Original posting from 2007-4-27: Bees are having a hard time getting through life the last couple of years or so.  I've heard/read about at least 6 stories about bee populations dwindling.  It's been dubbed Colony Collapse Disorder.  Just in case you didn't know, bee extinction would be the most horrible thing for all species on Earth.  Albert Einstein speculated that "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left." 1  Bees have a tendency to attack humans with a high level of ferocity and it's not because our technology is destroying them.

Canada & the EU have reported bee population declines.  Taiwan is experiencing bee losses as well.  Mites seem to be the cause in Hawaii.  Bees are even getting their ass kicked in France by the Asian Hornet.  They can't just seem to get a break!

Update on 2007-9-06:  Seems it was a virus after all. 

Update on 2008-6-08:  The latest update is NOT good for our little friends.  36% lost in the past year alone!

Update on 2008-7-25:  Greenhouse bees could be the problem.

Update on 2009-9-27:  Looks as if there might be a vaccine for Colony Collapse.  That just preceeding the vanishing of Bumble Bees now.
